Tove is a Finnish biographical drama film about the artist Tove Jansson. The film peeks into Jansson’s life between the war and the mid-1950s. The film had a budget of €3.4 million, making it the second most expensive film in Finland.
Tove premiered on 2 October 2020, screened at the Toronto International Film Festival and sold abroad to over 50 countries, including the Nordic and Baltic countries, Russia, South Korea, Germany, and Japan.
Tove was Finland’s nominee for the Best International Oscar 2021. It won the Finnish Jussi Award for Best Picture and seven other awards, including directing, acting, cinematography, costume design, make-up and set design. It also had the most nominations, with ten. Eeva Putro won the Sylvi Award for Best Screenplay.
